FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT & CALL FOR PAPERS
INTERNATIONAI CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & MULTIMEDIA AT UNITEN
28th to 30th September 1998*

Theme:
Research and application of IT and
multimedia.
Description:
This conference is intended as a platform for those involved in the broad spectrum of
research and application of IT and multimedia to present and discuss their findings,
experiences, views, and expectations. Prospective authors are invited to send in their
abstracts/summaries as outlined below.
Scope:
The areas are (but not limited to): Education and training (multimedia application,
distance learning), Emerging technology, Communication/Networking, IT applications in
power utilities, Borderless Marketing, Worldwide Manufacturing Webs, R&D Clusters.
Organiser:
Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), one of the first private universities in Malaysia.
Supported by:
Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia's largest power utility company, along with other
prominent organizations, institutions, and companies in IT and multimedia (to be announced
in the second call for papers).
Conference program:
Keynote speeches, plenary sessions, tutorials, lecture sessions, exhibitions, and tours.
For tutorial sessions, persons wishing to organise them may submit a proposal to the
Secretariat by 1st March 98.
Communication:
The official language of the conference is English. Communication shall be mainly through
email, web, or facsimile rather than hard-copy mailing. Hence supplying correct and
current email address and fax number is of the utmost importance.
Abstracts:
Extended abstracts/summaries may be sent in electronic or hard-copy forms with name(s) of
author(s), affiliation/organization, postal and email addresses, phone and fax numbers, on
top of the first page to the ICIM98 secretariat address below. The abstracts will be
assessed on originality, contribution to the field, references, presentation style, and
quality of language. Authors are requested to supply four keywords to indicate the area of
the paper.
General:
500 to 1000 words, typewritten text in 10pt Times Roman font, black
& white, and double spacing.
Electronic:
No graphics or postscript files, and must be accompanied by fax copy.
Preference:
Microsoft Word 97 or earlier or rich text format (rtf).
Hard-copy:
A4 size photocopy quality white paper, 3 copies, and single-sided.
