On the 20th August 1998, IBM announced that it would support Information Technology initiatives in Blakestown Community School by bring to school into its "Reinventing Education" program. This is the first time that IBM has extended this program to Europe. The announcement was made by Louis V. Gesner, CEO of IBM and Michael Martin, Minister of Education at a reception in Government Buildings.
