Junior Cycle

At Junior level, each pupil follows a three-year programme, leading to the Junior Certificate Examination.

Senior Cycle

At Senior level, there are a number of options available. Pupils may opt for a one-year Transition Year programme followed by a two-year programme leading to the Leaving Certificate Examination. Alternatively, pupils may proceed directly to the Leaving Certificate Programme. Pupils have a choice of following the standard Leaving Certificate Programme, the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. There is also a one-year Post Leaving Certificate Programme available for students in information technology.

Sports, Social and Cultural Activities

Blakestown Community School has a full programme of sports, social and cultural activities.This provides the opportunity for both boys and girls to take part in many team sports. Cultural activities such as debating, public speaking, drama, music, environment, health and social awareness are promoted within the school. A school magazine called Newslink.
