ENGLISH LANGUAGE and LITERATURE

To enable the child to express its thoughts, ideas as clearly and concisely as possible.

READING:

Diversity of material : access to a wide range of texts : range of styles : encouragement: favourite authors : confidence and competence : paired reading partnerships : newspaper and magazines.

Objectives:

to learn to read and to read to learn and to cultivate the habit of reading for pleasure.


Writing Structure:

Writing: The aim is to teach each child to express and communicate ideas in permanent form, using acceptable standards of penmanship, punctuation, spelling and grammar. Use will be made of Wordprocessors to type, edit and final draft.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
We propose to develop a range of skills suitable for the age level of the child.
We believe in the ancient motto
" Mens sana in corpore sano".
Children will have an opportunities to play Gaelic Football , Hurling , Soccer, Basketball , Volleyball , Rounders and annual school sports. Whenever possible Carrigeen will participate in inter schools leagues.
