Entries exceed all expectations on Corrin Hill.

By Matt Twomey - Munster Chairman

The Corrin Hill Relay attracted an exceptionally large field on Sunday when teams from Counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, and Tipperary fought a titanic battle for supremacy in ideal weather conditions. Corrin Hill near Fermoy, Co. Cork was selected by the promoters for its suitability as a springboard for beginners to the sport, and they got it right first time. The turn-out was superb.

The teams of four to comply with the rules of this fun event had to comprise one Senior, one Veteran, one Lady, and one Junior, but nobody was turned away in the true spirit of the sport. The Grange-Fermoy team which had called on the services of Leevale's Bat Kearney to make up the team were first home, with Paul Doyle, James Murphy and Maurice Tobin performing superbly. Unfortunately, the last minute inclusion of the Leevale man which was proposed by the organisers rendered them ineligible for the top honours; but they got their first taste of mountain running.
