Dear Parents,
Welcome back to our new school year 2009 - 10! We hope this will be a happy and successful one for all. At the commencement of this year, there are concerns regarding the Swine Flu. Having considered our position and taking on board the advice of the HSE and teaching organisations, the following are our recommendations at present:
1. We enclose information from the HSE for parents. This is also available on our school website on www.killeeneenns.com. It is very important that you read this document.
2. If your child is unwell, it is important to keep him/her at home.
3. We emphasise that our school will send pupils home if we have any health concerns. Please ensure that you have arrangements in place so that your child/ren can be catered for in this event. Please ensure also that, if you have changed any of your phone numbers, you inform the school so that we are in a position to make immediate contact with you.
4. Please train your child in good practice as outlined in the section ‘What should I do as a parent?’
5. Personal Hygiene Packs
While we will take appropriate measures in the school concerning hygiene, we ask that you supply your child with a Personal Hygiene Pack. This is a bag/washbag containing:
Your child will use this pack at all times, thus eliminating the use of communal towels, etc. It is a more cost effective and environmentally friendly way of doing this than many of the alternatives.
The advice we are getting is that the attentive washing of the hands using ordinary soap is adequate. The school will be providing liquid soap as usual.
It is also desirable that each child has a pack of tissues on his/her person at all times.
Thanking you for your co-operation,
Yours sincerely,
