Dear Parents,
This letter contains two very important matters for your attention:
Jack & Jill Foundation Promotion
Over the last while you may have heard, on the radio and elsewhere, of publicity in regard to the great offer being made by the Jack & Jill Foundation.
For the past few years, by collecting old mobile phones, we have already been participant in work of the Jack & Jill Foundation. Jack & Jill provide care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families. They do wonderful work and we know of some children and families who have benefitted from them.
They now have an amazing promotion in place, where, together with Promethean (a major provider of Interactive whiteboards), they are offering schools an opportunity to get a FREE interactive whiteboard.
When we priced similar equipment a little while ago, the cost was 5,000 euro approx. It is well worth making the effort of gathering 500 old phones to gain a benefit of that value!
This appears to be a no strings attached offer, where we can benefit both ourselves and the foundation.
So start collecting today!
It is estimated that there are over 10 million old phones in Irish households, so surely we can access some of them! You may have some in your own home or you may be able to source some from members of your extended family, friends, neighbours or work colleagues.
Request for Help
We had a special Board of Management meeting last night to discuss two very important issues for our school:
Lots of ideas were discussed but we decided to ask you, the parents, to get involved with the Board on these two very important issues. Consequently, I would ask you to consider giving a little time to one of these issues and join a small committee which will progress both projects over the next while.
As you know, there have been lots of cutbacks in funding to schools and we want to continue to deliver the very best education possible to all of the children who attend Killeeneen National School. We have a small number of projects, which we want to progress, and we will need to address the finances associated with these. A 50th birthday is always important and we want to celebrate the schools birthday appropriately. That is why the Board of Management has decided to ask for help and advice by asking you to give some time and expertise to the school for the next while.
If you are willing to help out, please contact the school on 091 796404, before Friday next and give your name to Mags, indicating which committee you would like to join.
