The School


WestWords Language School is a small, friendly, welcoming place.  It is a big country house overlooking a lough (lake) and surrounded by the hills of the Twelve Bens.


  • Our classrooms are large, elegant rooms looking out over the garden and Lough Athry. 


  • Each room has polished wooden floors, comfortable chairs and an open fireplace. 


  • We have a library of books on all things Irish and Celtic.


  • We use VCRs and cassette recorders in class.  Internet access and e-mail facilities are available.


  • We serve freshly brewed coffee and tea at mid-morning break in our large, country-style kitchen.

WestWords Language School is open year-round and is recognised by the Department of Education as an English Language School for the teaching of English as a Foreign language.
