Our Report on the Humpback Dolphin

Dolphins are known as smiling ocean creatures seen most
in aquariums, but what many people don’t know is that
dolphins are being killed by the thousands of people who
just aren’t nice enough to consider the fact that DOLPHINS
HAVE
LIVES
TOO!!!

Some reasons why Dolphins are endangered

The three biggest reasons for Dolphins deaths are :
1.Getting stuck in fishing nets.
2.People polluting their homes. ( don’t pollute.)
3.Parasites and diseases causing huge deaths. 4. In some of the parts of the world Dolphins are deliberately killed by fishermen because they eat the fish the fishermen want to catch.

General Suggestions to help support Dolphins

Support marine mammals.
If possible adopt a marine mammal.
Raise money to help an organisation that helps to support marine mammals.
Educate yourself about marine mammals.
Tell other people about the issues that really need to be known and heard.
Start to become more aware of more animals in your daily life and start to recycle more things.
Involve and educate your friends and family and tell them about marine life.
Spend some of your time giving support to the marine mammals.

There should be a law about killing dolphins. Dolphin shows are very cruel. The dolphins are kept in a small tank when their real habitat is in the big blue ocean. It is good to know that in some places the fishermen see the dolphin as a friend. Pollution may be the cause of some deaths but not all. We think fishermen are trying to kill dolphins because dolphins eat fish. There are plenty of fish in the ocean. In the Faroe Island they are very cruel to get dolphins into shallow water and then to leave them to rot or else they eat them. If there ins't a law about killing dolphins there should be a huge campaign. It is sad dolphins get caught in nets. They should be let back into the water straight away.

People should adopt dolphins but not keep them. People should let them free in the wild so if they are shot the killer will go to jail or pay a huge fine so he or she won't shoot them anymore. If a dolphin is sick by pollution and if she/he is pregnant the calf (baby dolphin) will die. We are glad people aren't buying or eating fish from the Faroe Islands. Films like 'Free Willy', Free Willy2', 'Free Willy3' and Flipper are very cruel.

There are dolphins in the river Shannon and around the coast of Kerry.
A porpoise has no sense of smell.
The bottle nosed dolphin is the most well known of all dolphins.
The Amazon river dolphins are over two metres long.
A porpoise has to rise for air because it is a mammal just like us.
The name dolphin is the name for the name small whales.
The Bottlenosed dolphin generally remains a few miles from the shore.
