History:
Colaiste
Mhichil was founded by Edmund Rice, a Christian Brother, to provide education
for boys in Limerick city. The school is administrated by a Board of Management.
The Christian Brothers remain the trustees of the school.

Statement.
We aim
to provide a visibly Christian environment where staff and pupils can achieve
their full potential as human beings intellectually, physically, socially
and spiritually.
Philosophy:
The main
aim of the school is to support the pupils in furthering their education
and to create a comfortable learning environment. We also aim to facilitate
the all round education of our students, to prepare them for the ever increasingly
competitive jobs market and also to prepare them for life itself.

Colaiste
Mhichil is a school for boys. The age range covered is from 12-18 years.
The school is located in the parish of Saint Michael to the south of Limerick
city centre. It is approximately 30 minutes travel by bus to Shannon International
Airport.
Enrolment:
There
are approximately eight hundred students in the Secondary section of our
school.
Entry:
Entry
to Colaiste Mhichil is open. Students are interviewed before admittance
and are assigned classes after completion of a short assessment.
Academic:
Students
take the Junior Certificate Examination
after three years, and the Leaving Certificate
Examination
after a further two years.
